Resolved Question: Where can I find affordable life insurance for sr citizen in-laws?
I read a previous thread suggesting MediCare, but I am not talking about HEALTH insurance. They only have term life insurance tied to current job, and they need to retire. They have no burial policy, and each is worried about leaving the other with burial expenses and debts. I have seen a few ads online, but when you get to the fine print, they seem mostly like scams. They probably wouldn’t get a very good rating if a health exam were required. Probably $15 -$25K max would be the amount needed. They live in Texas if that matters.
Voting Question: Could there be any foul play here?
My aunt from my mother’s side of the family died a few years ago. She lost her husband almost 2 decades before she passed. He left her with an insurance policy for her funeral costs through his place of employment. She also carried a small life insurance policy for her final expenses. It was probably close to 20 thousand in total benefits for both policies. She moved to live with family and we lost contact with her. I married and sent my sister a christmas card then she wrote back to tell me my aunt had died. I searched online to see if an obituary was ever made about her. I searched her new state of residence and her former state and didn’t find anything. After her husband died, she showed myself and my sister that insurance policies that were made out to her sister to be the beneficiary/executor of her burial costs. She wanted a modest memorial service and to be buried next to my uncle. She also stated that she wanted a pink simple headstone. I visited my aunt’s grave for the first time today. She doesn’t have a stone at all! I remembered the location of my uncle’s grave and saw that a newer grave was beside his. So I’m concerned that my aunt’s final wishes were ignored. My uncle worked hard for all that they had achieved. I don’t believe that there was even a memorial service for her. I’ve tried different search engines and can’t find any mention of any obituary anywhere in the US. I feel really bad for the memory of my aunt. She was almost a second mother to me after my mother died. Thanks so any information to find out about obituaries online.
