Resolved Question: What do you think of Obama’s Optional Health Insurance plan?
I recently received an email with the information given below. One thing that I didn’t realize, and that I don’t think is stressed enough, is that this plan is only an option – each American has complete freedom to choose this plan or keep the plan they already have. The government is not trying to take over or control your life.
This is not something out of Orwell and 1984.
From the email:
5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OBAMA’S PUBLIC HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION
The choice of a public health insurance plan is crucial to real health care reform. Here’s what you really need to know:
1. Choice, choice, choice. If the public health insurance option passes, Americans will be able to choose between their current insurance and a high-quality, government-run plan similar to Medicare. If you like your current care, you can keep it. If you don’t—or don’t have any—you can get the public insurance plan.
2. It will be high-quality coverage with a choice of doctors. Government-run plans have a track record of innovating to improve quality, because they’re not just focused on short-term profits. And if you choose the public plan, you’ll still get to choose your doctor and hospital.
3. We’ll all save a bunch of money. The public health insurance option won’t have to spend money on things like CEO bonuses, shareholder dividends, or excessive advertising, so it’ll cost a lot less. Plus, the private plans will have to lower their rates and provide better value to compete, so people who keep their current insurance will save, too.
4. It will always be there for you and your family. A for-profit insurer can close, move out of the area, or just kick you off their insurance rolls. The public health insurance option will always be available to provide you with the health security you need.
5. And it’s a key part of universal health care. No longer will sick people or folks in rural communities, or low-income Americans be forced to go without coverage. The public health insurance plan will be available and accessible to everyone. And for those struggling to make ends meet, the premiums will be subsidized by the government.
What do you think? How much will it cost? Any other, better solutions?

Resolved Question: Is it worth it for someone like me to get a girlfriend? If so, would it be possible for me to get one?
I’m 21, and throughout my short time of being alive, I feel like I’m convinced enough to realize that I probably shouldn’t even date, and instead I’d much rather enjoy peace and quiet…
It all began with my parents, both having dead fathers when they were no older than six years old, and therefore, they had to take on a lot of responsibilities at young ages given they both had multiple siblings. My parents started from nothing, and when I was growing up, all we did was work nonstop to get out of the rut of barely scraping by. We never did anything fun when I was a kid. All I know is work and responsibility. I’m sick of all that. I’m sick of living on a farm and doing chores all the time. I still live with my parents for free (besides food, clothing, insurance, school tuition, car parts etc.) because if I were to move out and pay rent, I’d continue the rut that I hate. Right now I’m working towards a masters in engineering, and putting in my final effort; I’m working two jobs, I’m simultaneously going two schools, and I’m doing chores around the house nonstop. It’s all my own effort because my parents have no advice for me because they never had education past high school. When I finally finish school and land the job, I AM DONE, and I’m going to build a shed out out in the woods with a single bed and a firestove, and I will not have to take care of animals or deal with any other tyoe of slavery. It’ll just be me, my low-maintainence life (I’ll probably never quit wearing old white shirts and torn jeans), my money, and my vacation trips.
Now, people often comment me on being a very focused, responsible, and mature individual. However, this is because I was forced to be that way. I don’t want to be that way. I want to be free. If I get a girlfriend, will I be able to have this freedom? Also, is there such thing as a relationship where nether person has a certain habit that they never change, and really irritates you? I don’t even want to deal with that. It’s not worth it to me. I want freedom from that as well.
I never had a girlfriend, so I have no idea. I was just never a goof-off when I was a kid, and you have to be a complete goofball in order to have social skills. Whenever I talk to girls, I am hardly able to hold a conversation. My peers would talk about me and convince them that I’m a really great guy and have done many awesome things but when I talk, my first impression is that I’m pretty much nothing to nobody because I’m trying to be polite and respectful, and usually pretty tensed up. On top of that. I’m guessing they percieve me as meek beause I’m too nice. But that characteristic, I’m sorry, I will never change. I will always be nice; if girls don’t like that, I guess I’m screwed. I just think that people who aren’t nice have a lame life. I feel like the only thing I got going for myself is my muscles from being a collegiate wrestler. With that said, would I even be able to get a girlfriend?
I appreciate peoples’ feedbcak as long as you write a comment that relates to what I wrote. I will delete any off topic answers.
Assisted Suicide: Why is it that while most people will agree that putting a very sick or injured animal to sleep is a merciful act and not murder but fail to apply the same set of principles when it comes to human beings?

One doesn’t have to participate in something to support that particular cause. I’m not gay, yet I support gay marriage and gay adoption. I’m not a toker, yet I support legalization of marijuana. Why is it then that making an argument in support of reasonable and responsible gun ownership means everyone assumes I own a gun?
