Open Question: Mitral Valve Prolapse vs Sweet/Salty foods?
Ok long story short had thyroiditis about 2 years ago…recently had my thyroid blood panel checked and all are at normal levels.
Since I was diagnosis with TMJ years ago I have cut out any and every sweet, soda, fried or salty food in diet. I keep to fruits & veggies and very boil and bland salads and plain boiled chicken (not a very appetizing life but it keeps my thyroid issues as bay. I don’t drink tea, never had coffee in my life, I haven’t seen the inside of a McDonald’s in years and I ask this question because recently I have had heart palpitations come up for me days before my period & during my period.
I have cold hands and feet and on a occasion since I lost my job these palpitations have come on stronger been looking ofr a job for 2 years, don’t ask…. when I had the thryoiditis episode I lost close to 25lbs and have kept it off (thank the gods) but I keep a very strict tailored diet that doesn’t include snacks AT ALL. Not that I was piglet of an eater before all of this happened to me. I keep a food journal and maybe once in a blue moon I will sneak a half a vegan cupcake or maybe a smal cup of unsalted roasted cashews (its the only peanuts I like LOL)
I just want to know when I do crave a sweet food like a cupcake or candy will I aggravate my symptoms of Mitral Valve Prolapse even worse just by having a small tiny portion of these types of desserts. I have been extremely good about keeping sweets fully away from me (for years now) but I am only human and I just feel like if I have a sliver of a cupcake, I go into tears that I am ruining my heart or something.
I don’t have health insurance but this doctor at a clinic told me to get an echocardiogram I don’t have hundreds dollars to take a test that may or may not show I have MVP but according to the literature I read online I know I have it.
Will beta blockers like Metoprolol curb these palpitations like I took before when I was diagnosis with my thyroid issues before (scared of any permanent side effects with this beta blocker not that I had any)?
Or will I end up taking antianxiety meds of which I refuse from another doctor because these types of meds change your moods and body chemistry (I havea friend on these types of meds lets just say I don’t recognize her as bubbly any more)?
I want to know will having the occasion sweet food aggravate or exacerbate my MVP symptoms?
My diet is bland and I just don’t know what else I could take other than maybe a baby aspirin to curb the palpitations before & during my period. I know this question looks insignificant to most of you but I have never had heart palpitation issues in my life in my 30′s (heck in my entire life till these past 2 or 3 years) and I am REALLY afraid that if I don’t get some answers that wishing this problem away isn’t really gonna work. I need to know what I am facing cause the literature I’ve read so far not helping me out any.
Any help or information is truly appreciated. Thank you so much.
Open Question: How does Illinois public aid/kid care work?
I am just curious because my cousin is a 21 year old high school drop out. Her boyfriend convinced her it was a good idea so they could both work at Taco Bell and see eachother more (crazy, I know). Anyways, they just had a baby. My cousin lives with her family and her boyfriend lives with his mother. Neither of them have cars or anything nice, really. I was just wondering how she possibly was able to afford having the baby and how she’s paying for the expenses now. Living with her parents, could she still qualify for public aid? I know she doesn’t have health insurance because she works part-time at a place where kids play laser tag. I am just curious about all this and I’m not going to be rude and ask her lol. I gave her tons of stuff at her baby shower but it seems like they are doing fine and I don’t know how. I’ve heard of that Kid care program…can just the baby have assistance from the state and not the mom?
Open Question: tooth decay, can it be delayed?
I’ve got a cavity on my wisdom tooth, and I’m starting to feel sensitivity and even slight pain on it. at the moment ive got no health insurance, but will soon, and will also be getting all my wisdom teeth removed when i get insurance.
whats strange is that i woke up this morning and felt slight pain in both of my jaws, near the back. one side i can clearly see a cavity, the other side i cant find one for the life of me (using mirrors/flashlights). i find it strange that both forms of tooth decay happened on the same day, but it appears so.
anyway im wondering if i can somehow slowdown the progression of the decay, so i can wait my month or 2 and just get the wisdom tooth pulled out when i get my insurance.
i take horrible care of my teeth, i know its bad but true. if i were start brushing flossing, using mouthwash, chewing on garlic, whatever it would take, to just slow down the cavity so it doesn’t get any worse, would that work? is it possible?
or once the cavity is formed it just keeps going, regardless of what happens on the tooth surface?
