Open Question: How long should I wear a permanent retainer?
When I was in high school, I wore braces for two years. Since the braces have been removed, I’ve had a permanent bottom retainer on for 15 years. Last year the lingual bar (the metal bar that is behind the teeth) broke off as I bit into an apple. I don’t have dental insurance. Should I have them removed? CAN they be removed?
Open Question: Life and misury or Death happyness?
Im 31 yrs old. I have a 4yr old son who is my pride and joy. I have a good job but I’m drowning in debt my spouse has a drug problem and tends to be very emotionally abusive towards me. I’m being harassed at work (government) there is nothing I can do about it do to doer circumstances. I’m ugly, I have been told this my whole life. My parents have bailed me out financially to many times. I may go bankrupt and loose my home the vehicles and my job is not secure my boss if powerful and hates my guts. She treats me different then other. I get punished so something that other people did with no consequence. I have lost respect from my family and friends. I’m seriously considering suicide. It is a permanent solution. Insurance would pay off the house and some debt My pension and life insurance at work would cover everything else to give my son a happy child hood. When I walk into a room I feel a sense of unwelcomness, people don’t like me automatically. Why am i so hated without even saying anything. I’m tired a lot and very sensitive the stress is getting worse. I have no worth and really don’t want to do anything or be seen anymore. People will say do it for your son. That’s what Im doing. I want him to be everything I’m not. I mess up everything I do or touch. I don’t want to risk that with him…… I have the means just need the courage to pull the trigger.
Open Question: How do I persuade my roofing contractor to do a better job?
First let me apologize for the length of this. I want to put in as many details as possible so you know what’s going on.
Six weeks ago I hired a local roofing company to re-shingle the roof of my home. I took 6 bids. The company I chose was in the middle price-wise and they have a good reputation. They are certified, have been in business for 40 years, and came highly recommend by friends and our insurance company. I thought I did all the proper research. However, this company did a really bad job re-shingling the roof.
When I had my home inspected 1 year ago, the inspector advised me to replace much of the sheething under the shingles. So when I hired the roofing company, I made sure to tell them to replace the sheething. They did not replace any, saying the sheething was all fine. They also did a bad job laying the shingles (the edges of the shingles are curling up on the edges of the roof). The roof looks wavy and dips down around the chimney (wouldn’t rain pool there and turn into a leak?). Plus, the roofers used too long of nails over the covered porch, so 500 nails poked through the beadboard ceiling. Their fix was to put up indoor foam insulation on the ceiling and paint it to match. That just doesn’t seem like a permanent fix to me.
When I tried to complain to the contractor about the problems I mentioned, he became hostile. He told me that I don’t know anything about roofs and he insists they did a good job on everything. Even though I’m not a roofing expert, I have enough sense to tell that the roof doesn’t look any better now than before they replaced it. In fact, it looked better before.
What can I do now? I haven’t paid him yet because I’m unhappy with the quality of the work. He says that if I don’t pay he’ll get a lien. What steps should I take at this point? I want the contractor to either fix his mistakes or just abandon the job so I can hire another company.

Not happy with Mozy right now. I had more than 250GB of stuff backed up that suddenly seems to have gone *poof*. It took months to get all that uploaded… Waiting to hear back from their CS people but if the answer is “sorry your data will have to be uploaded again” I’m finding another service that’s more reliable.
