Resolved Question: How is America a greater nation than Australia?
True, America has given the world more in terms of scientific advancements, military protection, etc., but what about day-to-day life? They don’t have job lock because their insurance isn’t tied to employment, they have freedom of speech, assembly and religion…and, yes, you can own a firearm in Australia —-look it up instead of listening to propaganda! They have a high per-capita income also and a reasonable tax rate, no one goes bankrupt over medical problems….so why do so many Americans say that their country is the greatest on Earth when Australia appears to be a pretty great place as well? Some could argue that it’s actually greater.
So, Australia is not the centre of the English-speaking world and they don’t have the bread basket that America has, what good are those two things if you’re not doing well in America? So what if Australia isn’t the centre and doesn’t have a fertile interior….we’re talking about day-to-day life of an Aussie versus a Yank, and from what I am reading, it sounds like the average Aussie has it better these days. Flame away with ignorant comments about the “poverty, fascism, illiteracy, violence and socialism” of this foreign land and how much they suffer and all want to immigrate to America. Australia’s great.
Resolved Question: i live in texas. if my x-husband signs away rights can he still be made to pay child support?
my ex has screwed up his life, is almost destitude.. he currently has a job as a care provider making 800.00 monthly, the lady he works for also provides him with a guest house to stay in, so he don’t have to worry about paying for rent, utilites.. he has no car (cuz he let his get re-poed) so he don’t have to worry about paying a car note or insurance, the employer also does all the cooking so he don’t have to worry about meals. Now he tells me he can’t afford his 400.00 a month child support on his two children. the only bills he has are the ones he is chosing to have such as his new computer note and internet. He is also ordered by divorce degree to pay half of all medical insurace,deductibles and co-pays. I have never asked him for money for this. i knew i probally wouldn’t get it anyway. Now he is going to ask the Attorney Generals office to lower his child support payments and if they don’t or if it’s not enough he is seriously considering signing away his rights. the man had (i don’t know if he still has it) a cdl, he could have driven a truck, school bus something.. he has gone from bad to worse with every decision he has made and make no mistake he is in the situation he is in due to bad choices on his part.
so my question is this, even if he signs his rights away can he be made to still pay child support. And if he does sign his rights away should i get myself out of “revenge mother mode” and still allow my children to see their daddy, on my terms? i feel damned if i do and damned if i don’t. someone help me
his child support was ordered by the judge at the time of our divorce, at that time he was bringing home 2,600 a month. He quit his job without notice and moved to ks to be with someone he met over the net. since then he has gone from one minial job to another.. he could do better as far as finding a job that pays more but is chosing not to. he has moved in with multiple people over the last two years and has been completely unstable in any living arangement or job. I have learned not to count on him, but it don’t seem right that he can choose to make less money, get his child support reduced i realize 400.00 is half of what he makes but he don’t have anything else to pay for, no rent utilities nothing…and unfortuneatly yes a man can walk into court and say “im signing my rights away, i don’t want to be a daddy anymore.” and if that happens this will totally destroy my oldest daughter
